Udupi, Apr 17: The Padubidri police have succeeded in arresting three persons and recovering from their possession, four out of the five computers stolen from the control room of Suzlon company, which manufactures wind-powered turbines.
Three out of the four thieves have been arrested. The arrested thieves have been identified as Gayadhar Dalai (22) and Danguli Yoyi (24) from Cuttack district of Odisha state, and Sumit Kumar Naik (19) from Kendrapara district in Odisha. They were taken into custody from their rented rooms in Padubidri and Hejmady villages on Monday April 16.
Biswas Singh alias Bisu, also from Odisha, has gone missing. All these persons, except Naik, used to work as contract labourers for a company to which works in Suzlon had been contracted. Naik had joined Suzlon Energy as an apprentice a year back, and was to be absorbed on permanent basis next month.
It is gathered that these people broke open the bolts of the control room, when all the workers were away at night for dinner, and then shifted the computers to their rooms by making use of partly collapsed compound wall of the company at Abbedi village.
It is said that the company officials, while filing the complaint, had expressed suspicion about the involvement of Gayadhar. The police, during the questioning of Gayadhar, got to know about the entire operation and also about the thieves involved with the incident. They are now on the lookout for the fourth thief.
Kaup circle inspector of police, Shivanand Walikar, is guiding the investigation. Padubidri station house officer, Mahadeva Setti, is conducting investigation.
