Mangalore: Foundation Stone for Divine Mercy Church at Fatima Retreat House Blessed

Mangalore, Apr 16: The foundation stone blessing ceremony of the Divine Mercy church was held at Fatima Retreat house on Sunday April 16 on the occasion of the feast of the Divine Mercy which is celebrated on the Sunday after Easter.

The ceremony was held after the Divine Mercy adoration and Holy Mass at 10 am. The foundation stone was blessed by Bishop of Mangalore Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza.

The church design was blessed by Fr Stany Miranda, a veteran of Fatima Retreat House on Easter Sunday. Fr Ravi Santhosh Kamath will be laying the foundation stone during a ceremony to be held in the near future.

Fr Ronnie Prabhu, outgoing director of Fatima Retreat House, Fr Eugine Lobo, new director of Fatima Retreat House, organizers Tony D'Mello and Herman D'Sa among others were present.

More than 800 devotees had gathered on the occasion.

    Its a big news , always we have mass in a open ground if rain comes very difficult to have many people , so its a very nice move, I request all the devotees donate sonething so that the chruch will rise as soon as possible after all its ur chruch

    What a beautiful feeling to know that the Divine Mercy Church will be erected at Fatima Retreat House in our beloved neighbourhood.

    We read that Fr. Ronnie Prabhu will be the outgoing Director. This is something new for us to learn. Fr.Ronnie Prabhu will shine wherever he goes because of his exemplary leadership skills. We wish Fr. Eugene Lobo best of success in all his future plans. We are proud to see Fr. Santosh Ravi Kamath's name in bold letters on the marble slab and is a deserving spiritual personality of Mangalore, the "Rome of the East". Fr. Santosh's dynamic leadership will remain luminous throughout the City of Jeppoo for hundred years and more. Rev Fr. Rashquinha, SJ has always been a pillar of guidance in our neighbourhood while His Lordship, Bishop Aloysius has always been a magnanimous and strong Guiding Light for the Dioacese of Mangalore. May God bless them all.

    Church of Divine Mercy will be an added attraction for Fatima Retreat House that has blessed us in all our daily needs and prayers.

    May God bless the Jesuits who are contributing so much of their talents and abilities for the progress and prosperity of Mangalore. Our prayers, our support and our best wishes will always be there for Fatima Retreat House.
