Mangalore: Fr Dr Dominic Vas Celebrates 25 Years of Priesthood

Mangalore, Apr 14: The silver jubilee celebration of the priestly ordination of Fr Dr Dominic Vas, OCD was held at St Joseph the Worker Church, Neermarga, here on Saturday April 14 at 10.30 am.
The thanksgiving Mass was celebrated by Fr Dominic Vas along with provincial Fr Archibald Gonsalves and parish priest Fr Godfrey Saldanha. The homily was preached by Fr John Sequeira of Rishivana.
In his homily, Fr John said that Fr Dominic Vas is a person adored by all, a very humble person who saw everyone from an equal eye and one who is possesses a generous, forgiving nature. He also added that Fr Dominic always kept himself available to help those in need of his assistance.
A get-together with a stage programme was held later at the church grounds. The toast raiser for the occasion was Fr Michael Morris Shenoy, superior, Mira Road, Mumbai. Leo Vas welcomed the gathering. Family members sang the prayer song.
Addressing the gathering, Fr Michael said that Fr Dominic has attained knowledge in various fields. "Fr Dominic was born into a very good family and most people who know him would definitely agree that Fr Dominic is a person willing to be there for others. Serving in Mira Road, Fr Dominic has proved himself to be a person who can easily undertake his responsibilities with ease and his service has been well appreciated by the parishioners," he said.
Fr Archibald Gonsalves, provincial, spoke on the occasion. He said that Fr Dominic has captured the hearts of thousands of people, and that if at all Fr Dominic were given any responsibility by the Carmelite community, he would wholeheartedly accept it and also fulfill it. "Fr Dominic is a peace loving soul," he added.
The master of the ceremony was Gerald Lobo.
Florine Vas, mother of Fr Dr Dominic Vas, Fr Godfrey Saldanha, Fr Archibald Gonsalves and Fr Michael Morris Shenoy were present on the dais.
Earlier, Fr Godfrey Saldanha feliciated Fr Dominic Vas with a shawl and garland in the church, on behalf of the St Joseph the Worker Church Parishioners. The secretary of the parish council was present.
Family and friends came togetehr in the joyous celebration and wished him good health and a prosperous life.
