Kundapur, Apr 9: A complaint was filed in Kollur police station in the taluk on Sunday April 8, against a person who allegedly tried to kill his mother-in-law. He was reportedly angry that the lady was not ready to give her other daughter in marriage to him as per his wishes.
Ganapati from Bastiberu Mavinakodlu in the taluk has been named as the accused. Ganapati, who runs a petty shop in his native village, had loved and married Bhavani, second daughter of Gulabi from Mavinakodlu Balemudi village, three years back. He has two children.
After marrying Bhavani, he had expressed his wish to marry Bhavani’s sister, but Gulabi was against this alliance. It is said that he continued to put pressure on Gulabi to fulfill his demand.
Making use of the opportunity when his mother-in-law was alone at home on Saturday afternoon, Ganapati visited her again, and brought pressure on her on the issue. When she deftly opposed his demand, he injured her neck with his knife, and hit her head with a pestle, it is said. Gulabi, who suffered injuries, got admitted into a private hospital here, and filed a complaint with the police.
