Udupi, Apr 5: A national-level volleyball tournament held under the aegis of Yellur Youth Federation as part of its golden jubilee celebration was inaugurated at Padubidri here on Wednesday April 4.

The tournament was inaugurated on Wednesday evening by Karnataka DGM K G Ramesh. Udupi  Zilla Volleyball Association chief Sudhakar Shetty presided.

Association chief in-charge P Annamalai, Srikshetra Yellur committee head Y Prafulla Shetty, organizer of the golden jubilee celebration Ranjan Shetty Mallabettu,  chief organizer  Yashwanth Shetty, Youth Federation president Deepak Y, folk scholar K L Kundanthaya, sports secretary Girish Acharya, Sudarshan Y S, Ganesh among many others were present.

Chennai IOB team made a grand opening, beating Bangalore's Karnataka police team with scores of 25-21, 25-17, 27-25. Naveen Raj Jacob, who led the team to victory. was adjudged the best player.

IOB Chennai, Karnataka State Police, LIC India Mumbai, BSNL Bangalore, HSIDC Haryana, Karnataka Youth, RC of Mumbai and Southern Railway Chennai teams will play in the league matches against each other.

    Thanks to Daijiworld for publishing the event which will be on till 8th of April. I am proud that Yelluru being village is hosting this event by the Yuvaka Mandala of which I am a member too. I request and hope that Daijiworld will cover the complete event till 8th of April.

    Really good work from association, not easy to conduct like this, all members effort for grand success.In India people will think about only cricket, we want to en courage other sports like this. Specially costal people are great for organising like this. Hope in future other association will also come forward like this sports accept cricket.
