Bantwal, Apr 5: A young girl committed suicide allegedly on being told by her mother to stay at home.
Rakshitha (11), daughter of Jinnappa Poojary, resident of Nooji committed suicide by hanging herself in her home in Koyla village of the taluk on Wednesday April 4.
Among three children, Ranjith is physically challenged and is studying in a special school in Mangalore. It is said that to bring him home, their mother Kushala was getting ready to go to Mangalore. Rakshitha wanted to accompany her mother and threw tantrums, but Kushala refused and told her to stay at home. Kushala left for Mangalore without her, while elder daughter Rashmitha is said to have gone to a bidi branch.
Making use of the time and opportunity, Rakshitha took the extreme step of ending her life by hanging by a saree, it is said.
Bantwal rural police arrived at the spot and conducted preliminary investigations.
Rakshitha was studying in 6th standard in Koyla higher primary school. Rakshitha’s uncle Vasu Poojary filed a complaint in Bantwal rural police station. Case is registered and investigations are on.
