M'lore: 124th Monthly Theatre in Honour of Melvyn Rodrigues Held at Kalaangann

Mangalore, Apr 4: Mandd Sobhann, the premier Konkani cultural organization, organized 124th monthly theatre in honour of poet Melvyn Rodrigues, at Kalaangann on Sunday, April 1.
 
15 of Melvyn’s selected songs were rendered during the occasion. Out of the total fifteen, fourteen were tuned by Mandd Sobhann gurkar Eric Ozario and the remaining by musician Alwyn Fernandes.


Singers Joyce Ozario, Zeena Pereira, Lavita Lobo, Prakash D’Souza, Robin Sequeira, Dillon Caldeira, Carol Monteiro, Preeti Lopez and Prituma Monteiro apart from Eric Ozario rendered their voices.  Singers from Goa – Mangirish and Sushil Kumar were the star attraction and won many a hearts with their soul touching singing.
 
Poet Melvyn spoke on the occasion. "We need breath to speak. Words have breath in them.  Words have life and have souls too," he said in his speech.  "Mandd Sobhann, especially Eric Ozario, over the years has taken pain and shown patience to understand words of various poets and he has caressed the souls of these words with his music," Melvyn said in his speech.
 
Averyl Rodrigues, wife of the poet was present on stage during the occasion.
