Daijiworld Media Network – Moodbidri (PS)
Moodbidri, Apr 4: A six-year-old Tamil Nadu-origin girl from Bangalore who went missing was found in Muramelu of Mariyadi, Moodbidri on Tuesday April 3, where she had been brought by a lady.
Shakunthala, a native of Tamil Nadu, found the Tamil-speaking girl Shanthakumari wandering in Bangalore railway station. Shanthakumari did not give details of her parents then.
Shakunthala assuming Shanthakumari to be an orphan, invited the girl and brought her to her house in Muramelu in Moodbidri. However, when Shakunthala went to her brother’s place Shirthady, Shanthakumari started weeping asking for her parents
The news spread, and Bhasker, a social worker in Taccode informed this to a woman and child welfare department and the media. When the matter was telecast in TV channels, Shanthakumari's aunt in Bangalore called Moodbidri police and informed that the girl is her sister Kanchana's daughter and requested to send the girl to Kashinath, grandfather of Shanthakumari in Mulky Panja.
Already, there was a case registered in a police station in Bangalore about the missing girl. Later, Kashinath went to Moodbidri and took his granddaughter into possession in the presence of tahashildar, PSI Ramesh Kumar, Bhasker among others.
Shakunthala struggled hard to convince the police that she took the child on humanitarian ground and not for any illegal purpose. The SI explained the law and also warned Shakunthala of consequences of such an action.
