Bangalore: Governor Bhardwaj Wants Luxurious Audi to Travel in Kerala!
Daijiworld Media Network - Bangalore
Bangalore, Apr 4: Karnataka governor H R Bhardwaj, who is also the governor in-charge of Kerala has reportedly demanded a 67-lac sleek Audi Q7 for his travel in Kerala.
The demand, sent by the Raj Bhavan to Kerala government, is awaiting cabinet approval, and is most likely to be passed.
Bharadwaj has come in for flak from various quarters for putting forward this request. What surprises many is the fact that the governor already has a fleet of seven cars, including two Mercedes Benz, at his disposal, and has still asked for a new car.
The Audi, if given the nod, will be the eighth in the line, and sources said that he has asked it to be fully equipped with the latest accessories, which will shoot up its price to Rs 80 lac.
The irony is that though he demanded an Audi, Kerala is a state he has hardly visited ever since he took up its charge after the death of its governor M Farook. The luxury car will be used only for a few hours when he visits, a fact which has raised eyebrows among many whether such luxury should be allowed at the expense of the tax payer's money.
A petition has been filed by a group urging for refusal to Bhardwaj's demand. In the petition, they have accused the governor of misusing his power and office and wasting the tax payer's money.
Last year, Rs 45 lac was spent to get a Mercedes Benz, apart from the other line of cars that wait for him.
