Beltangady, Apr 2: On the occasion of the annual festival of Lord Vishnu, a new chariot was offered to the Shri Manjunathaswamy temple at Dharmasthala here on Sunday April 1.
Sculptors of the chariot Koteshwara Lazminarayan Acharya and his team were honoured by Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade.
Welcoming the chariot, Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade said that people will get an opportunity of a 'darshan' of Lord Manjunatha when the chariot is taken out during the festival. "The Lord will bless the Kshetra and the people," he added.
Dr Heggade appreciated work done by the sculptors.
Koteshwar Laxminarayan Acharya said that the chariot was built with devotion and that he was blessed to have got an opportunity to sculpt it.
The annual festival of Lord Vishnu will begin from April 12.
A curious fact about the sculptor is that the 69-year-old Koteshwara Laxminarayan Acharya started building chariots in the year 1969. This was the 69th chariot built by him with 69 fine carvings in it.
