Mangalore: 'Cheat' Fund - Man Dupes Auto Rickshaw Drivers in Multi-crore Fraud Case

Mangalore, Mar 28: A major fraud case came to light on Wednesday March 28, when a person who allegedly cheated scores of people suddenly went missing.

Narendra Kamath, the accused, had been collecting money for chit fund from auto rickshaw drivers through door-to-door collection and at rickshaw stands.

Gullible auto drivers placed their faith on him and gave him money amounting to Rs 20,000 to Rs 30,000 to deposit in the chit fund. As he has been doing this for six years, there was not much scope for suspicion.

Some of the cheques amounting to lacs that he given to the auto drivers bounced, which further added to suspicion.

Now his house is found to be locked and he is absconding with crores of rupees collected from auto drivers.

He had rented a house near Ganapathy temple, Dongerkery. Scores of auto drivers who had become his victims gathered at the spot.

Bunder police have registered a case and are investigating.

If that is the case then....both your both eyes and look what is happening in centre ruled by congress they literally selling our nation.     I agree with Mr. Nayak mangalore.He must have invested people's money in other business like taxi/transport and got his finger burned. So now he is absconding. World is changing very fast but our people never learn from the past lessons. It is high time to catch these illegal chit fund operators and put them behind the bars. So that other innocent people do not get cheated.

    In general Kamath and Konkani will not cheat! They are compassionate! There could have been unforeseen circumstances...otherwise he will not cheat!     I feel sorry for these people. I lost 2.3 lakhs for global index and uniplay.still no hope.The people who cheated me and hundreds others like Veena kotian from Mercara hills and her brothers Santhosh Anchan are roaming free and if asked we are threatened! Where is police? Who will give us our hard earned money?When i think of the loss i get hypertension.Sorry rikshaw drivers we all need to be careful and cheaters are among our people only

    Mmmmm-Interesting point ,bringing disgrace to the GSB community. Comes to mind the title ..no dialogue of a film...My name is Khan and I am not a terrorist! Something along the same lines...
    I mean if Madhur Bhandarkar rapes should R. Bhandarkar also be blamed or looked at suspiciously? What has he got in the bargain? He has never even seen the heroine!!!Get what I am driving at?     No need to insult any one based on cast, no one is saint here. Plz comment on subject without insulting any one. I Dont understand why the public invest in such funds, in post office, Agree gold so many recurring funds. You can pay in instalments daily n monthly to save something from daily income specially for Rickshaw n taxi wala's. Hard earned money is gone. The cheque itself is fraud. Instead of lack, lake is written. So many spelling mistake. I feel putty for these drivers. God bless them, hope police will nab the culprit.

    I feel pity for the auto drivers who have lost their hard earned money.Inspite of these type of happenings in Mangalore our people never learn lesson that there is no short cut to earn wealth in
    right way.More over this Narendra Kamath has brought disgrace to GSB community,generally who never do such things.Hope he will be caught at the earliest and brought to book.

    This fellow was cheater.. i know it long time back !! Recently He made a Grand birthday party of his daughter at Maya international.This fellow was nothing just few years back.. recently he bought around 8-10 taxis in the name Ram- Ganesh etc.

    Its’ their hard earned money Kamath Saab, people die from Bus, Car or Bike Accidents but you will die because of Rickshaw Accident soon if you don’t give their money back.     Narendra Kamath has proved himself as a GEM for the community. Hindutva was his first comment whenever he starts to speak and cheated poor auto drivers easily.
