Mangalore, Mar 21: Steven Rego, sub-editor of Kannada daily ‘Vijaya Karnataka’, was selected for the ‘Pa Go Award’ instituted by Dakshina Kannada Working Journalists’ Association.
The Kannada report ‘Nandini Mayavaguva Munna…’ by Rego which was published in Vijaya Karnataka qualified him for the Award.
The conferring of the award will be held at Patrika Bhavan on Monday March 26 at 10.30 am.
Tulu Sahitya Academy president Umanath Kotian will be the chief guest who willconfer the Award, comprising of Rs 5,001, a citation letter, and memento. “Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade has sponsored the award money,” stated Srinivas Nayak, chief secretary, Dakshina Kannada District Working Journalists’ Association.
Rego has been working as sub-editor and correspondent at the city bureau of Vijaya Karnataka, Kannada daily, for the past five years. He has done his early schooling from Kodimbady Higher Primary School and graduation from St Philomena College, Puttur.
Rego is a post graduate in mass communications and journalism from Mangalore University. He is the eldest son of Ignatius Rego and Hilda Rego residing in Darandakukku in Puttur. His younger brother Sunil Rego is serving in the Indian army.
