Mangalore, Mar 20: A day-long workshop on drug law enforcement was held at the city police commisioner’s office here on Tuesday March 20. The workshop was organized by Narcotics Control Bureau.
 
Inaugurating the workshop, police commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh said that awareness campaigns have been taking place in the city for the past one year.

"However, no considerable result has been reported. That raises the need for police officers to take the issue seriously," he said, adding that all the law enforcing agencies must unitedly fight against the menace.

He further said that if drug addiction among youths is not controlled in the initial days, it leads to other crimes like murder and so on. Two special canine squads have been reserved for cases related to narcotics, he informed.
 
Officers Pankaj Kumar Trivedi, Venugopal G among others were present. DCP Dharmaiah welcomed the gathering. DCP Mutthuraya delivered the vote of thanks.
 
Various police officers, police constables, traffic police were part of this workshop.

    City Police commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh you are doing a good job for the city of Mangalore. We need people like you and also your supporting staff to bring peace and free of crime. A day long workshop on drug enforcement is not enough. You need more such workshops and more police officers and off course more police dogs. You should raid schools, colleges and illegal bars and motels where such crime is done. Good luck to all of you enforcement officers. Daya your pictures were great and I could see all the officers were paying good attention during the workshop.

    Thank you Mangalore City Police. We are proud of this very important move by your department.
    The other day I saw a young and very smart looking teenager, who got hooked to drugs and he is in & out of hospital. He was looking perfect but his emotional state was totally unstable. He was weeping like a baby and we all were very upset but the nurse advised us that he was a drug addict.
    How sad?

    Drugs teh dead end I feel the police should work hand and prevent these drug pedlars working in and arorudn manipal and mangalore Polcie you cn do it and if you work hard managlore and manipal will be drug free fr ever

    Except very few cases related to drugs, are reported from Udupi and D.K which means Either the society is not effected by drugs or the law enforcement is not intrested or not capable of handling these rackets. Despite having Canine squads, they work only on the command of a Human bieng who is naturally a police.

    POLICE SHOULD RAID COLLEGE CAMPUS. THEY CAN FIND ALL CRIMININALS THERE THOSE WHO SELL DRUGS.

    Very good move, but police in India acts like criminals. Drug abuse has evolved as a serious threat to our society. Neither the govt not any other organizations has been able to stop it.

    Very Good Move Police get trained in Prevention of Drugs abuse, similary police should trained prevention of communal attacks which spreads like a cancer in our districts.

    Also get some training to show civility. Recent news on condom placing by police in parlour is pathetic. Only in Banana republic we can expect such behaviour
