Beltangady, Mar 20: “The literature and research on Kannada by Nadoja Hampana and Professor Kamala Hampana is exemplary. Their literary works contribute to create awareness on women empowerment,” said Mangalore University (MU) vice chancellor Professor T C Shivashankaramurti.
He was speaking after releasing two books authored by Prof Kamala Hampana during a function held at Dharmasthala on Sunday March 18.
“It’s rare that couples are found engaged in the literary sphere. Both litterateurs indeed inspire patriotism, discipline and human virtues through their literary works,” added Professor Shivashankaramurti.
Speaking on the occasion, Professor Kamala Hampana said that one should take a second look at history to include a few aspects that are left out. “Coastal rulers like Rani Abbbakka contributed significantly to the freedom struggle. The rulers were knowledgeable in art and culture and reigned their kingdoms with wisdom. The effective utilization of women’s power will lead to national progress,” she said.
H N Rajasree said that poetry emerges if one pens the emotions that flash in one’s mind. Nadoja Hampana said that women should be given scope to explore their faculties and respect them.
Sri Kshetra Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade said that literature soothes the mind that is faced with daily struggles and difficulties.
MU registrar Dr K Chinnappa Gowda, SDM College principal Dr B Yashovarma, and Professor S Prabhakar were present on the occasion.
