Dubai, Mar 18 (Emirates 24X7): An intensive campaign against illegal activities in women's salons and massage parlours will be conducted soon, according to Lt. Colonel Khalaf Ahmad Al Ghaith, assistant director-general of investigation at Dubai immigration.

“These campaign will be conducted soon after a meeting with the Economic Department in Dubai,” he added.

This came during an interview with Lt Col Al Gaith in the "Spirit of the Law" (Rouh Al Qanoon) programme presented by lawyer Issa bin Haider on Noor Dubai radio.

He added the campaign will be conducted daily by police women supported by CID cadres and will include upscale locales like the Ranches and other remote areas where violators may think they are safe from the eyes of the police.

Speaking on another subject, he said the responsibility of the sponsor will end only after the worker under his sponsorship has left the country.

“Visitors to the UAE should always keep the original of the visit visa and not a copy because if there is suspicion of forgery, the visitor may be taken for checking the visa,” he said.

“The sponsor will face penalties if it is discovered that an absconding person who was under his sponsorship is still in the country and is working in some other place,” he said.

There has been an increase in the illegal recruitment of absconding workers whose residence visas had already been cancelled, he said.

Meanwhile, Lieutenant Majid Al Sha’er, director of research and investigation at, said: “The year 2011 saw more than 2,000 raids on shops to check whether the business is real or fake.”

He said: “Some people have a commercial licence but the business is only on paper. They are only trading in visas for workers for about Dh2,000 each.”
