Mangalore: Three Students Chosen for 'Kishore Vaighyanik Prosahan Yojana'

Mangalore, Mar 16: Abhishek Rathan Kumar, Rakesh N Rao and Sudhanva Bhat have been selected for the fellowship in the prestigious “'Kishore Vaighyanik Prosahan Yojana (KVPY)-2011-2012”. They were students of IIT-JEE/AIEEE training at Manipal Career Excellence, Kuntikan, here.

Abhishek Rathan Kumar, a student of second PUC at Canara PUC Kodialbail, Rakesh N Rao, a student of second PUC at Alloysius PUC, Karangalpady and Sudhanva Bhat, student of second PUC at Sharada PUC Kodialbail have secured 107th, 286th and 768th positions respectively among the 854 students selected from all over the country under the SB+2 scheme. These students will receive a scholarship of Rs 64,000 to Rs 1,08,000 per annum until their PhD. Summer programmes for the KVPY Fellows are organized in prestigious research and educational institutions in the country.

KVPY is an ongoing programme started in 1999 by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, to encourage students of basic sciences, engineering and medicine to take up research careers in these areas. The aim of the programme is to identify and encourage talented students with aptitude for research.
