Mangalore, Mar 14: "In an attempt to tackle the grievances of voters in the legislative assembly constituency, a new ‘Mangalore legislative constituency voters protection committee' will be introduced," informed Rahim Uchil, president of Karnataka Beary Sahithya Academy, also spokesperson of the new committee, at a press conference held on Wednesday March 14.
"The committee is a unique one as members of seven political parties including BJP, Congress, JD(S), CPI(M), SDPI among others will be part of this committee and they will work together irrespective of their political background," he said.
Rural areas like Natekal of Manjanady village, Asaimadaka, Narthabail, Badyar of Belma village, Renjady, Madani Nagara of Munnur village, Ranipura Site, Sanna Madaka, Thilak Nagar, Thiple Padau, Kote Padavu, Kallu Gudde, Male kedu of Harekala, Kojapady site, Aladka, Ottareguri, Nagamoole, New Padpu, K C Road of Talapady, K C Nagara, Pilikoor, Devi Nagara, Katungale Gudde, Uchila Gudde ,Kumpala Krishna Nagara, Kumpala Hanuman Nagara, Bagambila of Kotekar, Madoor, Mullugudde, Farangipete, Meramajalu, Sajipa are facing acute problems of potable water. Hence the committee will make arrangements to supply water to these areas through water tankers.
Also, delay in disbursement of pension for the handicapped, widow pension among other issues could be brought to the notice of the committee, he said and added that solution would be given for any problem. To a query as to whether this was a 'stunt' to bring down the popularity of MLA U T Khader, he ruled out such a motive and said even U T Khader has supported their cause.
The new office of the committee will be inaugurated at P M Complex, Kapikad, Thokkottu on March 18, he informed.
Vinay Naik, president of the committee, Sadananda Bangera, honorary president among others were present on the occasion.
