Udupi, Mar 15: Karnataka Chief Minister (CM), D V Sadananda Gowda, who is on a two-day visit to the district for canvassing of votes for the BJP candidate in the upcoming Udupi-Chikmagalur Lok Sabha constituency bypoll, visited Mt Rosary Church in Kallianpur near here on Thursday March 15 morning.
Mt Rosary Church is being renovated presently, at an estimated cost of three crore rupees. Speaking on the occasion, the CM said that the model code of conduct for elections forbids him from announcing any specific grants or donations during the tenure of election. He however, added that he will do whatever is possible within his command.
Sadananda Gowda spent some time with the children of Mt Rosary English Medium School, Kallianpur, on this occasion. Priest of the church, Fr Philip Neri Aranha, Jerry Vincent Dias of Mandovi Builders, deputy speaker of the state assembly, N Yogeesh Bhat, MLA from Goa, Francis, Udupi MLA, K Raghupati Bhat, district BJP president, Uday Kumar Shetty, BJP leaders, Jerald Fernandes and Gladys D Almeida, were present.
