Mangalore: Youth Hacked to Death by Unidentified Assailants

Mangalore, Mar 13: A 26-year-old was brutally murdered by a group of unidentified assailants near Kannur checkpost here on Tuesday March 13.
The victim has been identified as Abdul Rahiman, alias Puttha alias Sanna Puttha, a resident of Boregudde here.
The incident took place between 6.40 and 7 pm. Puttha had gone out to play, and on his way back was confronted by the group who attacked and hacked him to death with a sword.
However, the incident came to light some minutes later, when a passerby noticed his body lying at the spot and informed the police.
Domestic or internal rivalry is said to be the motive behind the murder. Sources said that police suspect Puttha's neighbour Isaaq of being involved in the crime.
Puttha had eight criminal cases against him, including attempt to murder, theft, possessing ganja and other petty cases, in Ullal, Pandeshwar and Kankanady rural police stations. He was recently released on bail, and was in fact warned of a threat to his life.
Circle inspector Ravish Nayak and sub-inspector Somayya along with other policemen rushed to the spot.
Kankanady rural police have registered a case and investigations are on.
