Mangalore, Mar 13: Vishwas Trust, a city-based organization involved with the welfare of senior citizens organized ‘Festival Month February’ as part of its annual activities held at Roshni Nilaya on Monday March 12.
After distributing various prizes to the senior citizens who won various events held as part of festival month, Loretta Rebello, president, Mangalore Ladies Club, the chief guest on the occasion, said that each stage of life has beauty and charm with the elderly being the treasure box of love, sacrifice, and care.
“They have to be empowered for the betterment of younger generations. Very often, in the modern competitive world, they are allowed to enjoy their idle time for rest. It is sad to see that many elderly face turmoil of poor health and restlessness,” added Rebello.
She called upon the elderly to accept the challenges like they would have in previous stages of life. Earlier, she distributed prizes to senior citizens who won events like singing, sports, cooking without fire, and flower arrangement to name a few.
Olinda Pereira, director, Vishwas Trust, and Santhosh Kumar Kadri were present.
Jessie Beretta and team led the prayer song. Lidwin Lobo introduced the chief guest. Reshma Soans read out the programme’s report while Dr Audrey Pinto, chairperson, Vishwas Trust, compered.
