Mumbai, Mar 6: Karnataka Sangh Andheri felicitated veteran Kannadiga litterateur Dr Yerya Laxminarayan Alva at Radhabai T Bhandary auditorium, Bunts Bhavan, Kurla (East), on Sunday March 4.
Distinguished individuals and litterateurs Dr Vyasaraya Ninjoor, Dr Sunita Shetty, Ratnakar R Shetty, G D Joshi, and Dulcine Furtado felicitated Dr Alva on the occasion.
Dr Ninjoor, in his felicitation address, said that he was privileged to honour veteran litterateur Dr Alva who is equal to Dr Shivaram Karant. He added that Dr Alva’s contributions to literature will gain him a permanent place.
Dr Alva, acknowledging the felicitations, said that he was humbled in life when he got an opportunity to honour centurions. “The doctorate was unexpected. I will strive to nurture up and coming litterateurs in my lifetime,” added Dr Alva.
Dr Alva also advised people to live the Indian way of life as embracing Western culture complicates life.
Jagajeevan Shetty, Satish Karkera, Rajesh Poojary, Ashok Shetty, Ravindra Shetty, and Prabhakar Belvai honoured Dr Alva.
Dr Sunita Shetty, Rekha Pramod Mahajan, Vasanti Shetty, Sasikala Ramesh Shetty, Rekha Gunakar Shetty and Dr Vani Ganipati were present on the dais.
Jayasrikrishna Parisara Premi Samiti founder president Jayakrishna Shetty presided over the distribution programme of widower’s pension.
S N Udupa, chief priest, Umamaheshwai Temple, Jerimeri, graced the occasion.
Kaup Bairuguttinar Ramesh Shetty was the chief guest.
