Kasargod, Mar 6: As part of the five-day religious festivities at the Enmakaje Beedina Mane near Perla here, the annual 'Nemotsava' of the traditional Pilichamundi Raktheshwri and Parivara Daivas of the Enmakaje house was held on Sunday March 4.
The colourful and auspicious 'Pilichamundi Daiva Nemotsava’ was attended by approximately 5,000 people.
The Enmakaje house has a history of more than 450 years from where the rich tradition of the nine 'Bhootas' can be traced. These bhootas are Pilichanmundi (the Rajan or main bhoota), Gulige, Sathyadevatha, Korathi, Posa bhoota, Chalena bhoota, Rakhtheswari bhoota among others.
Although for ages the Nemotsava was performed albeit on a small scale, the turning point came in 1994 when a fire destroyed the sacrosanct temple edifice and after a lot of deliberation from family elders, work began on the reconstruction of temple which was completed in 2004. Since then every year the customary 'Nemothsava' ceremony has been performed in the first week of March.
On all five days of the function there is provision made for meals, tea, snacks to be served to the guests and locals.
The rituals were performed under the guidance of chief priest Delampady Balkrishna Tantri.
Various cultural programmes were organized, including recital of devotional songs. Prominent member of the Enmakaje House Sudhir Shetty of UAE Exchange and senior members of Enmakaje house were present on the occasion.
