Panaji: Minor Fracas Between Congress and BJP at Polling Station

Panaji, Mar 3 (IANS): A minor fracas broke out at a polling booth here Saturday with a Congress candidate claiming that a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) councillor was canvassing within the polling station.

Congress candidate Yatin Parekh claimed that Ward number 12 councillor Vaidehi Naik, a BJP functionary, was flashing her party identity card to voters and asking them to vote for the BJP at the Massone de Amorim polling station, in Panaji.

"She cannot canvass for votes at the booth here," Parekh said, while Naik claimed that Parekh had physically attacked her.

Police personnel stationed at the booth intervened to separate the two bickering sections.
