Mangalore: Now, Direct Train to Tirupati from City

Mangalore, Mar 2: The people of coastal Karnataka interested to undertake pilgrimage to temple towns Tirupati and Tirumala have a reason to cheer, as the railways department has begun direct train service between the city and Tirupati stations. This train will run once a week.
The train will begin its onward journey at 10.45 pm every Saturday and move via Kasargod, Kannur, Kozhikode, Shoranur Junction, Coimbatore, Erode, Katpady Junction, and Chittoor, to reach Tirupati at 2.35 pm on Sundays.
The train will run further to Satragath Junction in Madhya Pradesh, crossing Odisha on its way. On its return journey, the train will start from Satragath Junction at 4.05 pm on Thursdays, and reach Tirupati at 5.10 pm on Fridays. It will reach the city at 9.45 am on Saturdays.
President of Railway Yatri Sangha, R L Dias, said that the coast has, for the first time, been connected directly with Tirupati, and that the pilgrims from Udupi and Uttara Kannada districts can also make use of this train by reaching Mangalore through trains.
