Kasargod, Feb 27: “Honest efforts will be made to set up an Institute of Road Safety in the state,” said transport minister V S Shivakumar.
Addressing media persons at the circuit house on Sunday February 26, minister Shivakumar said that funds will be allocated in the forthcoming budget to set up an Institute of Road Safety.
“The highest numbers of road accidents take place in India as per the global standards. The state aims to create road safety and to achieve an accident-free state by 2020,” he added.
The minister further said that necessary staff will be appointed in motor vehicle and traffic police department in this regard.
District Congress Committee (DCC) president K Veluttambu and Gangadharan Nair were present on the occasion.
