Mangalore, Feb 27: As two Kingfisher flights operating between the city and Bangalore have been cancelled, the passengers are opting for Jet Airways. Because of excessive demand of air passengers on this route, prices are shooting up.
In the past, three Kingfisher flights used to ply between Bangalore and Mangalore. Since about a week, all the three flights were cancelled. On Saturday and Sunday, the company operated one flight each. Most of the agents in the city have stopped booking tickets for Kingfisher flights because of uncertainty and high probability of earning customer ire.
Jet Airways has not been able to accommodate all the passengers now, as a result of which air fare has skyrocketed. The fare, which used to vary between Rs 2,500 to Rs 4,500, has jumped to even Rs 11,000 for those who book flights at the last minute.
Jet Airways has a capacity of taking 60 passengers in its morning and afternoon flights, and 125 in the evening flight. The three Kingfisher flights carried 60 passengers each. The passengers, particularly company executives and politicians, who are required to shuttle between the two cities frequently, are facing constraints.
In the meanwhile, Kingfisher has cancelled its flight between the city and Mumbai permanently.
