Bangalore, Feb 23: Roopa (35), a resident of 16th cross on Malleshwaram 6th Main Road in the city, was smothered by her husband to death on Tuesday February 21. She is survived by two children.
Mohanraju had bought a Tata Indica car by pledging the gold ornaments of his wife. He operated the car on hire basis. His wife used to pressurize him to bring back her ornaments, and the couple frequently quarreled on this issue. Senior members of their families had come together, and struck a truce between the warring couple about one and half months back.
Mohan, who reached home on Monday night, slept in his car, without entering home. On Tuesday morning, he went into his home. Verbal frictions arose again between the two again. Mohan, in a fit of anger, caught hold of his wife’s neck and pressed it hard.
Roopa collapsed to the ground and lost her life. Bhaskar, brother of Roopa, had visited the house at that moment. He complained about the incident to the police. Policemen of Vyalikaval station arrested Mohanraju, and took up investigation.
