Bantwal, Feb 21: A pedestrian was killed by an auto rickshaw on Sunday February 10.
The deceased has been identified as 42-year-old Abdul Latif, a resident of Kilaginapete.
He was waiting for his friend beside the road in front of Corporation Bank at about 8.00 am on Sunday when the recklessly driven auto rickshaw rammed into him. Latif was a tempo driver and was taken to a hospital in Mangalore. He passed away on the way to the hospital.
Tempo drivers stopped plying tempos at B C Road condoling the death of their colleague.
Bantwal town police registered a case against auto rickshaw driver Zachariah, on the basis of the complaint lodged by Latif’s brother Ismail.
