Mangalore, Feb 20: Veteran Congress leader and former union minister, B Janardhan Poojary, asserted that he is not an aspirant for the party ticket to contest the coming by election from Udupi-Chikmagalur Lok Sabha constituency. He was speaking to reporters on Sunday February 19.
“I have already conveyed my unwillingness to enter election fray, to party national president, Sonia Gandhi. I have also assured her of my unconditional support for anyone fielded by the party. When my opinion was sought by party’s general secretary, Madhusudan Mistry, who is in charge of Karnataka affairs, and Rajya Sabha member, Oscar Fernandes, I told them that the choice of party candidate is left to them, and that I am not interested to contest from any seat other than Mangalore,” he elaborated.
To questions raised by media persons about the statement made by former state Chief Minister, B S Yeddyurappa, on porngate scandal, Poojary accused the ministers, who had watched blue film when assembly was session by throwing decorum and decency to winds, of showing an attitude of arrogance instead of accepting their mistake and apologizing for their conduct. He advised Yeddyurappa to suitably advise the concerned, instead of supporting their action.
