Mangalore, Feb 17: Chandrashekharaiah, a lecturer in Seetaraghava PU College in Pernaje, Puttur taluk, has alleged that he is being pestered for bribe, although he was appointed to the college to fill up backlog meant for Dalit candidates.
Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday February 15, Chandrashekharaiah informed that his post had been sanctioned by the department of PU education as a post without grant. “The principal of the college has been harassing me by not implementing the government order. I have been told that I will be absorbed in the post on permanent basis, only if I donate three lac rupees to the college fund,” he claimed.
He said he has not been getting any facility for which a lecturer is entitled to. “Not considering my summer vacation absence as service period, not allotting answer paper valuation work to me, insulting me by removing of the chair allotted to me in the college, are some of the insults I have been subjected to. Although I have met concerned officials and politicians and handed over petitions to them, nothing has been done to redress my grievances,” he said.
Chandrashekharaiah said he has already approached Dalit Sangharsh Samiti, and hopes that justice will be done now. He warned of resorting to protests, if he fails to get justice from the concerned.
Dalit Sangharsh Samiti leaders, Chandu L, S P Anand, and Devu, were present at the press conference.
