Bantwal, Feb 15: Amarnath Shetty (28), who used to execute works on contract for the local municipality, died near Hassan on Monday February 13. His end came when he was being taken to Mangalore for advanced treatment relating to injuries he had suffered in an accident which had occurred on Saturday night.
Shetty had left for Tirupati along with seven others on Saturday afternoon in a Xylo vehicle from here. At around 8 pm that day, a tractor hit their vehicle. While Shetty suffered extensive injuries, the others escaped unhurt miraculously. Shetty was admitted into a hospital in Nelamangala. After initial treatment, he was being brought to Mangalore for further treatment, when he breathed his last on the way.
Shetty is survived by parents and two brothers. Bantwal municipal president, Dinesh Bhandary, councillors, and others have grieved the untimely demise of Shetty.
