Udupi, Feb 2: The mortal remains of a girl student were found in a room of Morarji Desai Residential School at Aroor in the district on Tuesday January 31 night. Although it appeared that Gunavati had committed suicide, her parents, in their complaint to the policemen, expressed reservations about suicide theory.

Gunavati (14), daughter of Bellane Rajeev Poojary, was an eighth standard student of the said school. Her body was found hanging in her room, and it appeared she had committed suicide in 15 minutes gap between 8.30 and 8.45 pm that day. The body was taken to a private hospital in Brahmavar, where the girl was declared brought dead.

Gunavati’s parents, who reached the hospital that night, expressed suspicion about the cause of their daughter’s death. In a complaint filed with Brahmavar police station, Rajeev Poojary requested the policemen to subject school warden and teaching staff of the school to intensive interrogation to bring out the truth.

A case stands registered in Brahmavar police station. Investigation has been undertaken.
