Mangalore, Feb 2: Rosario High School organized a felicitation ceremony for Siddarth Puthran, the 15-year-old sportsman, who bagged a gold medal in hammer throw, at the national-level sports event held at Ludhiana, Punjab. He achieved it by throwing the hammer to a distance of 51.35 m.
Physical directors Karyappa and John Lobo, Royston Pereira and Ananth Prasad who participated in national-level sports in relay and javelin, respectively, were also honoured.
Siddarth had bagged gold medals in hammer throw, discus throw, and shot put in taluk and district-level events.
He was brought in a colorful procession with bands and colourful umbrellas. School correspondent Stany Goveas honored Siddarth Puthran with a ‘peta’, shawl, and fruits. Headmaster Aloysius D’Souza, PTA president Mohammed Ali, and secretary Tanuja Bangera were present. This is the second time he attended a national-level event.
Siddharth had also bagged the individual championship twice in a national-level event. School teacher Rita Pinto welcomed. Siddarth’s parents Shivanand Puthran and Saritha Puthran, and grandmothers Umavathi and Bhanumathi were also present on the occasion.
