Mangalore, Feb 1: “The district administration has failed in delivering its duty to uphold communal harmony in the region. It is making the police force too weak,” lamented B Madhava, secretary, CPI (M), DK district committee, on Tuesday January 31.
He was addressing the protest meet held in front of DC’s office organized by the CPI (M) DK district unit to condemn those who have been spreading communal hatred. He urged the arrest of those engaged in such activities and said that this act of spreading communal hate is against the crux of the Indian Constitution.
Madhava urged the government to take stringent action against the people involved in such activities. However, he did not mention any person or place in his address.
Vasanth Achari, member of CPI (M), said that in recent days there have been efforts in the coastal district to create communal hatred. “Though the police have registered an FIR against RSS leader Dr Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat, there have been protests against this act of the police and speeches and addresses are taking place in various places to create problem. The BJP, being a political party, is backing them,” he said and urged the government to be strict.
