Udupi: Malpe Beach Utsav - 2012 Begins on Exuberant Note

Udupi, Jan 28: "Last year over 40,000 people participated actively in the beach festival here in Malpe. During the valedictory ceremony D V Sadananda Gowda had assured all of us of providing more support in future and today, being the CM he has readily agreed to sanction Rs 10 lac for the beach fest which will make it even more successful," expressed K Raghupathi Bhat.
He was speaking after inaugurating the Beach Utsav-2012 by releasing pigeons and balloons in the air at Malpe beach here on Saturday January 28.
ZP president Katpady Shankar Poojary said that Udupi is witnessing enormous progress and the credit should go in some or the other way to Dr V S Acharya who is an able leader.
MLC Kota Srinivas Poojary said that Udupi now has made history in Karnataka with a number of successful events giving opportunity for talents to blossom. "It is amazing to witness around 50,000 people participating in the Beach Utsav," he added.
State minister for Kannada and culture Govind Karjol, Kaup MLA Lalaji R Mendon, district Fisheries Marketing Federation president H T Kidiyoor, UDA former chairman Sudhakar Shetty, Ujwal Developers managing director Puroshottam P Shetty, TP president Devdas Hebbar, and SP Dr Ravi Kumar among others were present as chief guests.
Bharati Chandrashekar led the prayers. Beach Utsav committee convener Yashpal Suvarna welcomed. Panduranga Malpe proposed the vote of thanks and H Suresh Shetty compered.
