Udupi, Jan 26: The Hindu Jana Jagurti Vedike staged a protest near the Service Bus Stand on Wednesday January 25, condemning the allegations against BJP leader Kalladaka Prabhakar Bhat whose public speech provoked communal disharmony at Uppinangady, in Puttur taluk, during the Hindu Samajotsav, a few days ago.
Addressing the protesters, BJP leader Mattar Ratnakar Hegde said that the people of our nation had faced tragic incidents even before and after Independence.
“Hinduism regards other religions, and no Hindu outfit has any evil motive. It has been trying to ban conversion, love ‘jihad’, and cow slaughter. Kalladka Prabhakar is the personification of Hindu culture. He is trying to promote peace and harmony. However, there are a few people who try to hinder his mission,” added Hegde.
Kaup MLA Lalaji R Mendon said that there are people in undivided Dakshina Kannada district who promote terrorism. “A few people also maliciously distorted the statements of Bhat during the recently held Samajotsav. The police have forged documents to register a case against Prabhakar Bhat,” said he said. Mendon also urged the police to withdraw the cases that are registered against Prabhakar.
Hindu Jana Jagruti Vedike veteran leader Sheela K Shetty urged the people to introspect on why communal disharmony takes place during Hindu Samajotsav.
BJP Youth Morcha president Vilas Nayak said that the minority communities are exploiting the situation to create communal disharmony and they will not be successful as long as Bhat lives.
RSS leader Shambu Shetty, BJP district president Uday Kumar Shetty, vice-president Suresh Nayak, Vikramarjuna Hegde, Baikady Suprasad Shetty, Yashpal Suvarna, and TP president Devdas Hebbar were present on the occasion.
