New Delhi, Apr 27: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing the nation during his 'Mann Ki Baat' radio programme on Sunday, assured the families of the Pahalgam terror attack victims that justice will be delivered. Speaking with deep emotion, he said the brutal attack reflected the desperation and cowardice of terrorists who wish to destroy the peace in Jammu and Kashmir.

“The terror attack in Pahalgam shows the frustration of those who patronise terrorism. At a time when peace was returning to Kashmir, schools and colleges were vibrant, democracy was strengthening, tourism was flourishing, and opportunities were growing for the youth the enemies of Jammu and Kashmir and the country could not bear it," PM Modi said.

Expressing his personal anguish, the Prime Minister added, "The April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam has left a deep agony in my heart. Every Indian feels a profound sympathy for the families of the victims."

Calling on the country to unite, Modi said, "We must strengthen our resolve to face the challenge of terrorism. I assure the families of the victims that they will get justice."

The terror attack, which occurred near a meadow in Pahalgam, left 26 people dead, most of them tourists.

In the days following the attack, India has taken a series of strong steps against Pakistan, including suspending the Indus Waters Treaty, curtailing diplomatic staff, revoking visas of Pakistani nationals, and suspending visa services. Indian security forces have also destroyed houses belonging to at least nine terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir.

The attack has drawn strong global condemnation, with leaders including US President Donald Trump extending support to India and Prime Minister Modi.
