Mumbai, Apr 11: In a shocking incident stemming from a property dispute, Bandra Police arrested four people, including a woman, for the alleged murder of a 40-year-old man on Thursday night. The deceased, Shakir Ali, was reportedly attacked by a group of relatives in Dargah Gully around 9 pm.
The accused have been identified as Imran Khan, his wife Kayanat Khan, her father Nasir Khan (62), and her brother Farooq Khan. According to police, the altercation turned violent when a verbal spat broke out between Shakir and Kayanat. Soon, Imran and her family members joined the scuffle.
In the heat of the moment, Imran allegedly stabbed Shakir with a knife, leading to his death. Three others also sustained injuries during the clash. All four accused lived close to Shakir’s residence, police said.
Upon being alerted, Bandra Police registered a case of murder and immediately launched an investigation. Officers reviewed CCTV footage from the vicinity and spoke to multiple witnesses, leading to the swift arrest of the four accused.
Preliminary inquiries revealed that the motive behind the attack was a long-standing property dispute. Police also confirmed that Imran Khan has a criminal history and had been previously booked by the Santacruz Police.
Further investigation is underway.
