Bengaluru, Apr 5: On behalf of the Global Alliance of Tulu Associations (GATA), a memorandum was submitted to the Speaker U T Khader by Sarvottama Shetty on April 2 in Bengaluru.
Sarvottama Shetty is a renowned organizer who has established multiple organizations in the United Arab Emirates, leading the Tulu-speaking diaspora there. Bhaskar Sherigar, the founding president of the All America Tulu Association (AATA), leads the Tulu-speaking diaspora in the United States. Scholar Shantharam Shetty from Bengaluru, a founding member and executive of ILESA (Voice of the Ocean), leads efforts within India. Dr Priya Harish Shetty, a journalist and acclaimed orator, and G V Sudhakar Shetty Ullal, a proponent of the development of the Tulu language, are also key members involved in the initiative.


GATA is an organization that unites Tulu-speaking communities across the world, particularly those who have migrated from the Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, and Kasargod districts of Karnataka and Kerala. Formed under the leadership of AATA president Sreevalli Rai Martell, the association includes key leaders from 27 countries where Tulu organizations are active. The organization is dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the Tulu language, culture, literature, and script.
