Surat, Apr 3: The Gujarat Uniform Civil Code (UCC) panel convened a significant meeting in Surat, aiming to gather public feedback and suggestions on the proposed UCC framework. The session, attended by legal experts, community leaders, and citizens, was part of a broader initiative to engage various stakeholders in the formulation of the code.
The panel, constituted by the Gujarat government, has been conducting similar meetings across the state to ensure that diverse viewpoints are considered before finalizing recommendations. Justice (Retd) Harshavardhan Mehta, chairperson of the panel, stated, “The purpose of these meetings is to gather suggestions from all sections of society. We are committed to ensuring that the final recommendations reflect a balanced and inclusive approach.”
Community representatives present at the meeting expressed their concerns and provided suggestions, urging the panel to take into account cultural sensitivities and practical challenges.
