Udupi: Former international badminton star Manjusha Kanwar inspires students at Milagres College

Udupi, Mar 29 : Milagres College, Kallianpur in collaboration with Wizdom Institutions Network, Mangaluru, and Bengre Bulls, Bengre hosted the Manjusha, a distinguished former international badminton player and the head of the sports cell at Indian Oil Corporation Ltd, New Delhi at the college auditorium on Saturday Mar 29.

Manjusha Kanwar was given a grand welcome by the Milagres College in Santhekatte junction and was escorted to the college campus with grandeur.

A formal session was also held on the occasion, in which Manjusha interacted with the students and shared her life journey to young minds.

Msgr Fr Ferdinand Gonsalves, correspondent presided over the programme. Raj Bengre, philanthropist and Bengre Bulls, Bengre; Jayaprakash Shetty, founder of Jalajashri Trust, Mumbai; Dr Vincent Alva, principal Milagres College; Savitha Kumari, principal Milagres PU College; Dr Francis Tej, director Wisdom Institutions Network, Mangalore; Dr Jayaram Shettigar, and others were present on the dais.

Addressing the students Manjusha Kanwar remembered her student life and said, "I was never much interested in the studies. I always used to concentrate on the sports field. I never wanted to sit in a single place for longer time. The excellent coaching and the coaches i got trained are the reason for what I am today. I have lost many a times, but every defeat has given me lessons to learn and improve myself. I trained myself and changed my way of playing the game and got the results. In sports you need to understand that you have to give your best, and you have to shake your hands with your opponent once the match is over. It is tough to accept failure. Use your failures as the stepping stone."

Manjusha Kanwar, PU College principal Savitha Kumari and Dr Raj Bengre were felicitated on the occasion.

On receiving the felicitation Dr Raj Bengre said, "Always be humble and be grounded no matter what heights you grow, always remember your roots, this will make you a great person. Manjusha is a great sportsperson; I have learnt many things from her. Never say I quit and be humble."

Presiding over the programme Msgr Fr Ferdinand Gonsalves, college correspondent said, "We are honoured to host Majusha Kanwar in Milagres College today. Wizdom Foundation has come here to bring new energy to the institution. Milagres College has done its best for the society, now with collaboration of Wizdom Institutions Network, it will also continue its good deeds along with bringing in new energy and progress. It is noteworthy that Jayaram Shetty has always been a supporter for his institution. He always visits the ground and makes sure that it is progressing."

Dr Vincent Alva, principal Milagres College welcomed the gathering. Abhilash Kshatriya, CEO Wizdom Institutions Network, Mangaluru compered the programme. Shylet Mathias, IQAC coordinator proposed the vote of thanks.
