Mangalore, Jan 15: India's renowned musicians - saxophonist Kadri Gopalnath, Hindustani flutist Praveen Godkindi, drummer Sivamani and other artistes - took the audience at Mangala Stadium on a memorable journey of music on day 4 of National Youth Festival here on Sunday January 15.
The saxophone was played by Kadri Gopalnath with 'Hamsadhwani raga' to the tune of ‘Vathapi Ganapathim Bhajeham’, with Praveen Godkindi later taking the lead on flute accompanied by the beats of Sivamani's drums. It was indeed a musical ecstasy with the flow of saxophone and drum beats blended to perfection.
Dr Narasimhalu Vadavatti accompanied on clarinet, Pandit Rajendra Nakod on tabla and Santhosh Mulekar on keyboard. Vidhwan Rajashekar, Vidhwan Harikumar also accompanied the artiste with clarinet.
It was a breathtaking fusion of classical and western music. If Saturday’s musical nite with Euphoria made the youth go berserk, Sunday was for those with a more classical taste for music. Nevertheless, the young people among the crowd thoroughly enjoyed the sync and rhythm of drums, flute, saxophone and other instruments, and expressed their contentment with thunderous rounds of applause.
