Rahul Gandhi, Congress leaders hail women’s role, call for equality

New Delhi, Mar 8: Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, extended heartfelt wishes to women on International Women’s Day, acknowledging their immense contribution to society.

Taking to X, Rahul Gandhi wrote, “Women are the backbone of our society. Their strength, resilience, and voice shape our nation's future.”

Reaffirming his commitment to women’s empowerment, he added, “On this International Women's Day, I stand with you and for you—committed to breaking every barrier until every woman is free to shape her own destiny, chase every dream, and rise to greater heights.”

He also shared a video message urging women to become self-reliant and independent while emphasizing that homemakers play an equally crucial role in nation-building.

Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge echoed similar sentiments, stressing that gender equality is essential for national progress. “National transformation begins with gender equality. Women, through their wisdom, dedication, and strength, are powerful agents to reshape societies. Greetings on International Women's Day 2025!” he posted on X.

Congress leader and Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also joined in, extending warm greetings. “From the freedom struggle to nation-building, women have always played a key role and proved their leadership abilities. The more women come forward, the stronger and more beautiful our country will be,” she stated.

International Women's Day is celebrated annually on March 8, recognizing the achievements of women across various fields and advocating for gender equality worldwide.
