Indian women achievers take over PM Modi’s X handle on Women’s Day

New Delhi, Mar 8: Indian chess grandmaster R Vaishali, along with scientists Elina Mishra and Shilpi Soni, took over Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s X handle on International Women’s Day, sharing powerful messages of determination, ambition, and empowerment.

Vaishali, the 23-year-old chess champion, expressed her pride in representing India on the global stage. “Follow your dreams, no matter the hurdles. Your passion will power your success,” she urged young women, crediting her family and mentors, including her brother Praggnanandhaa and chess legend Vishwanathan Anand, for their unwavering support.

Scientists Elina Mishra and Shilpi Soni encouraged more women to pursue careers in science and technology. “India is the most vibrant place for science, and we call upon more women to explore its vast opportunities,” they said.

Mishra, associated with BARC, has worked on accelerator physics, while Soni has played a key role in DRDO and ISRO missions. “The joy of seeing our work come to life is beyond words,” they shared, acknowledging the contributions of women in India’s nuclear and space programmes.

This initiative, reminiscent of 2020 when PM Modi’s social media accounts were handed over to women achievers, continues to celebrate and inspire women breaking barriers across fields.
