Jabalpur, Mar 8: In a remarkable act of humanity, two kidneys harvested from a brain-dead man were transported through a green corridor in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur on Friday, offering a fresh lease of life to patients in need.
One kidney was sent to Bombay Hospital in Indore, nearly 500 km away, while the other was transplanted at Baderiya Metro Hospital within Jabalpur.

The donor, Puran Choudhary, had suffered grievous head injuries in a road accident and was admitted to Jabalpur Medical College. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries, and doctors declared him brain-dead.
A team of neurosurgeons and medical professionals convinced Choudhary’s family to donate his organs, allowing his legacy to live on through others. Jabalpur District Collector Deepak Saxena immediately facilitated a green corridor to ensure the swift and safe transportation of the organs.
His last rites were performed with state honors in his village, a recognition initiated by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav for organ donors.
Deputy chief minister Rajendra Shukla lauded the district administration, police, and medical teams for their collective efforts, saying, “Puran Choudhary’s family has set an inspiring example by giving new life to others. This noble act will encourage more people to come forward for organ donation.”
