Srinagar, Mar 8: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a fierce attack on the state Budget presented by Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, calling it a "complete failure" and accusing the National Conference (NC) government of deceiving the people.
BJP Spokesperson Altaf Thakur dismissed the Budget as jumla bazi (empty rhetoric), questioning the unfulfilled promises of free gas cylinders, job guarantees, and free ration. “This budget is a cruel joke on the people of J&K,” he said.

Thakur also slammed the government's decision to provide 200 units of free electricity only to Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) beneficiaries, covering just 1.5% of the population. “Omar Abdullah came to power making grand announcements, but his government has failed on every front,” he added.
Despite measures like free travel for women in government-run transport and electricity subsidies for AAY families, the BJP dismissed the budget as a desperate attempt to mask administrative failures.
BJP spokesperson Abhijeet Jasrotia accused the NC government of misleading people by taking credit for central schemes initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “The budget speech is filled with references to central government schemes, yet the J&K administration is misrepresenting them as its own achievements,” he alleged.
He further criticised the budget for ignoring key concerns of daily wagers, contractual employees, and unemployed youth, calling it a bundle of lies.
“The people of J&K will not be misled by false promises,” Jasrotia concluded.
