Karkala, Mar 2: Kadri police have arrested Satish Hosmaru (36) from Idu village in Karkala for allegedly extorting money from women by threatening to release their obscene videos on social media.

According to reports, Satish allegedly obtained women's mobile numbers through social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook. He then threatened them, claiming to possess their obscene videos and demanded money, warning that he would make the videos viral if they did not comply. Following a complaint by a woman, Kadri police registered a case and launched an investigation.

The police have seized the accused's mobile phone, which reportedly contained evidence related to his extortion activities. It has been revealed that Satish already has multiple cases registered against him at Karkala rural and town police stations, including theft, molestation, and rape charges. He had previously served a jail sentence for a theft case registered at Karkala town police station about a year ago.

The arrest operation was led by Kadri police inspector Somasekhar J C, sub-inspector Manohar Prasad, and the crime detection team.
