Udupi, Jan 1: MA Moula of Udupi has been elected as the new president of the Udupi District Muslim Federation during the general assembly for the year 2025-26, held at the UBMC Hall in Udupi. He will lead the federation for the next two years.
A renowned businessman from Udupi, MA Moula has been actively involved in various social, educational, and community development activities. He has previously served as the federation's general secretary for two terms and as vice president for one term.
During the elections, members were selected for various roles. Central committee members include Yaseen Malpe, Idrees Hoode, Iqbal Katapady, Rafeeq Gangolli, and Maulana Zameer Ahmad Rashadi from Kandlur. Organization representatives include Taufiq Abdullah Navunda, Dr Abdul Aziz Manipal, Abdurrahman Kannangar, and Khalid Manipur.
District committee members from Udupi Taluk are Abdul Aziz Udyavar, Yaseen Kodi Bengre, Syed Fareed, Iqbal Manna, Shabbir Malpe, Irshad Nejar, VS Umar, and Adil Hoode. Members from Kundapura Taluk include Riyaz Kodi, Dastagir Kandlur, Shaban Hangloor, Mushtaq Hennabail, and Hanif Gulwadi. From Kaup Taluk, Shabhi Ahmad Khazi, Naseer Ahmad Sharfuddin, Anwar Ali, Muhammad Azam Sheikh, and Muhammad Iqbal were selected. Members from Karkala Taluk include Muhammad Ghaus, Ashfaq Ahmad, Nasir Sheikh, Muhammad Shareef Banglegudde, and Muhammad Shareef Renjala. Brahmavar representatives are Tajuddin Ibrahim, Ibrahim Kota, Asif Baikadi, Aslam Haikadi, and Haroon Rashid Sasthan. From Byndoor Taluk, Shams Tabrez, Sheikh Fayaz Ali, Ameen Golihole, Aftab Kiri Manjeshwar, and Tufail Shahabuddin were elected. In the subsequent district committee meeting, Ismail Hussain Katapadi, Mustafa S Adi Moolur, T.M. Jafrullah Hoode, Khateeb Rashid Malpe, Buwaji Muhsin Baindoor, Sheikh Abdullateef Madani, Raihan Trasi, Abu Muhammad Mujawar Kundapura, Peeru Saheb Adi Udupi, and B. Muhiyuddin Katpadi were co-opted as members.
The election process was overseen by Maulana Abdurraqib Nadwi, the general secretary of Majlis-e-Islah wa Tanzeem, Bhatkal. The assembly commenced with a Quran recitation by Maulana Zameer Ahmad Rashadi, the federation's vice president. The general secretary, Muhammad Idrees Hoode, delivered the introductory speech, while Secretary Ismail Hussain presented the biennial report. Treasurer Syed Fareed tabled the financial accounts for the term, and the outgoing president, Muhammad Yaseen Malpe, addressed the gathering with his closing remarks.
