Udupi, Dec 25: Continuing with any act realizing that it is an evil in itself amounts to corruption. Hence a mind based on honesty and integrity is the appropriate weapon against corruption, said well-known thinker and columnist Jyoti Guruprasad at a seminar on ‘Towards an evil-free society’ organized by women’s wing Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) in the Lions Bhavan at Naikere here.
JIH state joint convener Sameera Jahan in his presidential address said that the awareness that one had to meet with one's creator after death could banish the evils.
She further said that it was everyone's duty to create awareness about evils and caution about their ill-effects to others.
Little Star Indian School’s Moodbidri correspondent Sara Ismail and Milagres College Kallianpur lecturer Hilda Rodrigues also spoke on the burning issues of the modern-day world.
Suraiya Shariff recited readings from the Quran. Kulsum Abubaker welcomed the audience and gave the introductory remarks.
Samina Shukoor proposed a vote of thanks Naveeda compered the programme.
