Mangalore, Dec 23: St Christopher’s Association celebrated the ‘Christmas day’ at the Ashram of Little Sisters of the poor, Bajjodi here on Thursday December 22.
Lancelot Pinto, corporator and former deputy mayor Mangalore City Corporation was the chief guest. In his speech he said that Christmas is the Birth of Jesus, who brought love and light to this world. He exhorted the residents of the Ashram to share this love between one another and spend their time in the Ashram in prayer.
Another chief guest was Umanath Kotian, president of Tulu Sahithya Academy. In his message he wished the residents the Christmas joy and said that they were in the Ashram due to various reasons. But he stressed that if the children at their young age were taught the values of life, their parents would not be required to stay in Ashrams like this. He wished all the residents of the Ashram good health and happiness.
Earlier, the president of an Association Sushil Noronha, welcomed the gathering and introduced both the chief guests. The head of the Ashram, Sr Catherine, and other sisters were present.
Victor Menezes, proposed the vote of thanks. Francis D’Souza, vice resident was present on the dais. Leena D’Souza Conducted the programme. The executive committee members of the association were also present at the function.
All the residents were distributed the ‘Kuswar’ and some essential house-hold items were handed over to the Ashram by the Association as a gesture.
